Music education is a key major in colleges and universities. It has cultivated many music talents for the society, which will help accelerate the development of my country's music industry and meet the needs of teachers in primary and secondary schools. Vocal music teaching has a certain degree of difficulty, and the requirements for music literacy of teachers and students are relatively high. We should speed up the pace of reform and innovation, and gradually improve the level of vocal music teaching. In the context of the new media era, we should clarify the challenges faced in the current teaching and give full play to the advantages of new media. This paper analyzes the importance of vocal music teaching reform in music education majors in colleges and universities in the new media era, explores the implementation status of reform work, examines the current situation of vocal music teaching in colleges and universities in my country, and puts forward suggestions for these problems.
