Context: Agility has played a prominent role across industries in the last few years and noticeably during the COVID pandemic. While organisations have had to keep up with their goals and commitments, people continue to find motivation, through virtual life and beyond. The focus remains not only on what needs to be done but also on how individuals can take ownership and feel that they belong. This is where Gratitude can be a powerful tool, often seen as a key contributor of compassion and good relations. How exactly are gratitude and agility related? Could this lead to better organisations? Objective: The goal of this paper is to 1) understand the impact gratitude has on individuals and in the agile world; and 2) if gratitude is a key contributor and when consistently practiced can enable individuals/companies in their Agile journeys. Methods: The findings of this paper are outcomes of experimentation on gratitude journaling, polls, and interviews with agile professionals and stakeholders.
