A finite element method for the free vibration characteristics of stiffened plate with central cutout, idealized with an 8-noded isoparametric quadrilateral element has been examed for clamped boundary condition by using ANSYS software package. The analysis is carried out for plate with uniform thickness, different cutout ratios, different stiffener area ratios and mode frequencies for free vibrations of stiffened plate are represented in form of non-dimensional frequency parameter.
