ZnO thin films were grown on quartz at various substrate temperatures by pulsed laser deposition (PLD). X-ray diffraction (XRD) and UV–VIS spectrophotometry were used to analyze various structural and optical parameters. The effect of substrate temperature on crystal quality and optical properties of quartz - based ZnO films was studied. XRD showed that an optimal crystallized ZnO thin film was observed at the substrate temperature of 500?. Transmission spectrum and its differential spectrum obtained by spectrophotometer indicates that the bandgap width of ZnO film decreases with the increase of substrate temperature.
