Image segmentation is an emerging technique which separates a part of any object or image. Pattern Recognition and Image analysis are the initial steps of image segmentation. Image Analysis is one of the methods for the extraction of meaningful information from images. The term Pattern recognition is used to find difference on the images by using the features of the images. This paper presents a brief review on some of the image most commonly used for segmentation techniques like thresholding, region based edge detection and fuzzy based segmentation.
